John Walters, OD has been working in the eye care field since 1987. He is an honors graduate of New England College of Optometry located in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon graduation, he completed a postgraduate residency in ocular disease through the New England Eye Institute in Boston.
Dr. Walters has practiced as a licensed optometrist in Southern Maine since 1997 and joined Maine Eye in 1999. He provides general eye care, contact lens services, and specializes in the non-surgical treatment and management of ocular disorders. He has participated in joint public health initiatives with the American Optometric Association, the Maine Optometric Association, the Maine State Diabetes Prevention and Control Program and others. He has served on several medical eye care missions to Guatemala with Maine Eye Center ophthalmologists. Dr. Walters is a past president of the Maine Optometric Association. He is currently an active member of the Maine Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Upon graduation, Dr. Walters was certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He later earned board certification through the American Board of Optometry. He is licensed by the Maine and Massachusetts Boards of Optometry.
Dr.Walters’s practice is at Maine Eye’s Lowell Campus location at 15 Lowell Street in Portland.
