Dr. Holly McCarthy is a residency trained optometrist who first joined Maine Eye in October 2016. From 2022-2023 Dr. McCarthy worked as a staff optometrist for the VA Maine Healthcare System at their Togus and Lewiston clinics. She rejoined the Maine Eye team in April 2024. She specializes in comprehensive and post operative eye care as well as the non surgical treatment and management of ocular disease.
Dr. McCarthy is from Dixfield, Maine. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine with a degree in Biology. She then attended optometry school at the New England College of Optometry in Boston where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and Student Council. After graduating, Dr. McCarthy completed a residency in ocular disease from the VA Boston Healthcare System.
Dr. McCarthy is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maine Optometric Association, where she previously served on the Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Iris Network.
